Anyone else have the issue where you have to pretty much do nothing all day as there isn't any work ?

Kinda have it the other way around. I have no time to do nothing because I have to much work to do.

I tend to invent my own work when I've got free time. There are a bunch of our systems that are crying out to me, begging for updates.

I don't actually work anything in the office. I pretty much finish my work at night.

I would rather be busy than to sit and do nothing I've had like 1 hours work all day and there is only 1:45 mins left of the day

It happens sometimes at the end of a Sprint. I usually take that time to research some new Android stuff or to write an article for my company's blog.

In the past, I was at a job where I had to beg my manager for things to work on and he told me to wait for some decisions to get made first, "so just get on Facebook".

I've since gotten much better at finding things to work on, mainly by looking at the skills listed on job listings that look appealing and finding a way to check those off for myself.

The problem with just doing something that isn't asked for is that it can feel super demoralizing after you worked hard on something that you think is really cool, but it never gets released because it wasn't part of the product roadmap/vision/CEO-ego-trip

@trogus I actually do this a lot... because when I do, I'm the user.

And then someone usually goes, you know that app/script/hack you wrote? We need it production-ized.
