Is anyone else abusing the Windows 10 start menu search as command prompt? 'cause I do, all the time.

@620hun You can't type in program names in Win + R and you have to press one more key then

Yes. Same way I 'abuse' Alfred on Mac OS and gnome do on Linux except kde environments, there i just stick with kickoff or lancelot :p

@filthyranter wait, how do you pass arguments in the start menu?

@runfrodorun I still use it. I think Win shortcuts are underrated, so much can be done with them.

As @lotd said, that thijg i smeant to be abused.

You should have your go-to's in the "dock" (whatever is called on windows), kill all stupid shortcut s or even preve t shortcuts to be created on the desktop and fucking abuse the search thing, that is what it is there for.

@620hun By typing them? shutdown -s -t 01 for example?

@mundo03 ...you're clearly using macOS or some DE on Linux behaving similarly.

@filthyranter you can also do that in Win + R. I was asking what can be done in start that cannot be done in Run.

@620hun Starting the Chrome app "Hangouts" by typing "Hang" and pressing Enter, for instance.

@filthyranter I honest to God don't understand how that counts as a command prompt. The start menu was literally made to start programs. So you're using it what it was made for.

@620hun Yes but I also use it as command prompt since it's also able to do the same things WIN + R can do.
