Been browsing job postings for a year and just can't find a company I'd like to work for

They are either evil, or x-washing and doesn't actually solve the problem they claim to solve

If you want a meaningful job, go into academic research or companies actually making stuff you can touch in the meatspace. Games would be meaningful too - but it's a hard industry and going indie dev is more for people who aren't actually dependend on the income...

@Oktokolo "going indie dev is more for people who aren't actually dependend on the income"

Thats a startlingly sad and true statement.

@MammaNeedHummus Yeah, "realworld" never cut it for me as i experienced the internet and simulated worlds (mostly games) as part of my very real life and the real world from the start. Playing a game and immersing into its game world are real activities evoking real emotions and for a part of my brain, the virtual worlds are real (hence they can trigger emotions).

Some decades ago i heared the term "meatspace" and it somehow fits and sounds wonderfully cyberpunk. "cyberspace" and "meatspace" complement each other nicely and neither tries to assert superior or inferior realness in relation to the other. Not the smoothest terms, but that is part of their charm... 🥰
