This is 2017 but someone still think that Java and Javascript are the same language.
And this person is an IT student.

Of course they're not the same; JavaScript is just Java with some more scripts. Duhhh

@ExcellentSP If youre an IT student and you don't know that JS and Java aren't the same, that's pretty bad.

That's like a pharmacist not knowing Advil and Tylenol are basically the same thing.

Had someone call me about a job offer yesterday. Said they want a Java dev, he emailed me the job brief mid call.
It was covered in JavaScript requirements, I pointed this out to him on the phone and the call dropped.

A third year computer science student was on a module with me last year.

Lecturer saw he was struggling and asks him "do you like programming?"

The guy says "no, but I like robots"

My lecturer decides to let this go and says "ok have a look at JavaScript for a bit as we will be using node and I'll be back to help you and make sure you pass this module"

10 minutes later

"Why are you on the wiki page for java?"
