chrizzle7269yI think the problem is that there are only a handful of web browsers (relatively), but about a billion email clients of all shapes and sizes.
So we're all stuck catering for the lowest common denominator. -
@chrizzle but surely if Google and yahoo and Microsoft announced it (I assume they are the biggest email providers) they would be implementing it in a month, it would give others a chance to start getting ready to at least display it and then they could show it? Maybe?

SithLord8509ySadly it won't do much :/ clients, webmails, and so on.. I hardly believe we will stop using tables in mails before 2020-2022 .. Seriously. At least not as a standard, some clients may support modern stuff
-
chrizzle7269yI only wish that were the case. A post on the subject: https://litmus.com/blog/....
I think we are stuck with it until someone comes up with some clever reason why it would be financially worthwhile for however many hundreds of clients there are to keep up with standards.
I mean it's IE's job and they can't even handle it ;) -
chrizzle7269yI've posted this before but:
Whilst there is no cure at present, you can at least dull the pain: http://templates.mailchimp.com/reso...
Converts a style section in the head to inline styles. I reckon it cuts dev time by about 2/3. -
skbly71299yMaybe not to that old era, but surely to emails which only support MarkDown. We surely need <li> and some basic formatting.

tytho23149yWhole-heartedly agree. I think the trouble is that css is global, and could affect the styles of the web based email client. There are ways of isolating it, but it'd be pretty hacky or cause other security issues.
But once I found this, a lot of the pain went away: http://foundation.zurb.com/emails.h...
