Well, they had two connections. One was for failover and it seems like the boss canceled the second one -
Yep, we used to have two ISP:s with automatic failover between them.
The primary connection has been quite stable until lightning struck two days ago.
That's when we realized that the big man had taken the, probably cost-driven, choice to cancel the redundant connection. Shootin' straight from the hip... like a boss. -
I need to add to the story that the redundant connection is about $10/month. Meanwhile, looking up in the ceiling, one can look at a rather fancy looking lamp armature that cost $1500 that apparently was much more necessary... Not to mention that the cost saving was swamped by the cost of having the entire office staring at said lamp for 5 hours...

So... he came back from vacation today. Took the entire blame for the situation, had reactivated the redundant connection, but said nothing more. I got the feeling that he was very ashamed.
I had expected a funnier reaction to rant about, so, sorry about that. :)
But I guess the initial rant has enough merit on its own. -
We also got a redundant connection, though that one is over 4G, because there's only 1 ISP that delivers internet to our building.
Don't even think our CEO knows we have it
