v0idmp3477yIt is a new trend...when you have a bug in a code, you start explaining how your code works to little rubber duck, and bcs you listening yourself while you talking your brain will probably give you idea for fix. Duck is just a replacement for walls...too many finished in mental hospital xd

@v0idmp3 although you kind of explained it almost correctly, it is not a new trend... It is called Rubber Duck Debugging.
You can see evidences of programmers and CSs using it as far back as the 70s.
When you explain your problem to someone you tend to organize your thoughts for speech... Many times this will make you see things from a different perspective.
When no one is around or available, you just pretend to explain it to anyone. The rubber duck serves as an avatar. I myself use the closest intern... I find the feedback helps me and also, I take the time to teach something... -
Biggy132867yOnce I tried to explain my problem to rubber duck. The next day I hear my wife she says to her mom how stressful my job is and I am out of control. "My husband needs help " said.
