So, my country did banned Telegram for a terrorism issue. Meanwhile, Telegram also banned terrorist groups. What do you think about that?

@filthyranter How so? This is Indonesia, there exists a large population of individuals of the Islam faith. Government in Indonesia is also well recognized for being harsh and swift, although not to be confused with being proactive against the radicalization of their people.

Banning encryption is banning privacy.
They might as well outlaw opaque walls "to combat terrorism."

I was thinking that my gov is actually overreacted. But i don't know.

Not just Telegram, Youtube, Facebook will be banned soon.

@2nd2NULL Read the story and investigated but they mean they can crack it when they've hacked the device which is pretty logical actually. The crypto protocol and the app are seen by most researchers (crypto/cyber sec) as one of the most (if not the most) secure ones in the world! Gotta love the usability as well (agree @justasithlord?)

@kodoklepas In case you'd consider Signal, it has something build in which, at network level, makes every message sent with it look like a regular web request to a few of the most popular sites in the world like Google etc. Good luck blocking that! (you'd have to block so much that you could just as well just shut down the Internet and they won't do that probs) No clue how they do it but it works for Israel and a few other countries I read :)

@2nd2NULL On the other hand, Signal also *stores* the messages encrypted on the phone, WhatsApp doesn't so idk if they'd intercept messages from the RAM or something in signals case hmmmm
