I was put off react for a while for the same reason. I hate Facebook, but react is a good library/framework. It's not like it makes any difference to FB if you use their tech or not.

devios157017y@nosoup4u No, but judging by how many bugs Facebook has in their code, it's not a good sign! 😉
In all fairness I've heard good things, but haven't used it myself (just read a bunch about it a while ago). -
Yup! Good thing for me is that I also hate front end and app development so won't be doing react soon 🙌

lolnick447yIMO, Facebook is always kind of a mixed bag when it comes to open source software projects. A lot of their more interesting stuff came directly out of the fact that they needed to devote some of the most brilliant minds in engineering at the time to counteracting PHP's bad language design. It tends to be: "Hey guys, we built this huge complicated thing we use internally, and we're releasing it so we can say we're super active in supporting free software. *plops down bucket of Java packages*" That being said, I think React is a well designed tool. I especially like that it doesn't try to be a kitchen-sink solution to everything you might want to do in a web app. It's certainly worth looking at if you're turned off by the more opinionated approach of things like Angular/Ember/Vue/whatever.

slar3007y"In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance is the mental discomfort(psychological stress) experienced by a person who simultaneously holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values."
I've struggled with this when it comes to Microsoft products for close to 20 years now.
I've only recently starting to use visual studio code to write go because it's actually really convenient and a pleasure to use.
I would say take the plunge and use react. You will most likely come across things you think are designed wrong and due to your dislike of Facebook it will annoy you more than it would otherwise. Our minds are funny that way.
I'm hesitant to try React because it's developed by Facebook. I don't like Facebook.
Is anyone else suffering from this?
