Please explain to me Mr. Windows 7 why it took about 10 minutes to "install" a cheap $10 mouse

Mechanical hdd?
Search on wu by default to get drivers (slow internet or slow ms website)?

@arcadesdude yeah it has a HDD; it's a machine at work. The internet speed isn't too bad here. But i used this mouse on this computer before; i think it was this one. But its a regular run-of-the-mill usb optical mouse; that's my real gripe 😕😕

I bet it was WU related. Windows probably like: Oh a mouse you've already used before? Let's search and reindex the entire windows update catalog on a spinning disk and check all updates already installed to see if one of them matches this mouse.
