I like retro apple stuff more than this recent shit show they call the line up of new gen computers

zankar20697yI always laugh my ass off when i see this at work and i always rage when i have to use this unergonomic piece of garbage
(i don't have it btw) -
Lightor7797y@jeffalyanak top notch, top percentile? In what sense? They control the hardware and software so they have less problems most of the time, but nothing they make or do is anything to write home about.

Lightor7797y@jeffalyanak build quality, sure, they are built with great materials. Design wise though, they aren't great, sometimes even right out horrible. Don't believe me, replace a hard drive on an Apple desktop, try to charge a magic mouse while using it, like the meme implies, look at the iPen, etc etc.

Lightor7797y@jeffalyanak Forefront of the industry by design? I think not, they do it through marketing, their ecosystem, and software.
You mention the iPod was just design, that's just wrong. They had the ecosystem, they had iTunes (the software) they had a great marketing campaign. It was soooo much more than just design. You mention it was easy to operate and understand, a lot of that was software, again.
I do agree that not targeting power users like us works well for them. Apple products are fantastic for average users, they are easy, self-contained, they all connect and are intuitive, granted at a highly inflated price, but such is business. -

And yes, some of their demo might not care if they can replace a hardrive, but as anyone in the dev community can tell you, there are many iOS shops. Those shops employ devs, those devs care about those things. So yes, while most might not care, some do, and that design choice does not make it a good design. Design is more than just looking pretty, design is functionality.
You mention that the demo doesn't care if they have to flip the mouse and cant use it while it charges. First that's kinda assuming a bit. Second, ask any user who had that mouse die mid use if they care, I bet they did. Having to buy 2 mouses or pause work for a half hour so that something looks 'seamless' is a poor design. -
freakko6307yThe mouse charges while you are drinking coffee or sitting on the loo devRanting. It is not a problem. It looks awkward, yes. But it. Is. Not. An. Issue.

l0om16587y@jhh2450 shit quality? Apple might have lots of issues. About hardware you could say they are a step behind in power, they are arguably overpriced, etc. But built quality of their machines is outstanding. I'm not even gonna say it's the best. But "shit quality", seriously dude?

Orek12987yPeople are so used to use shitty things thats why they get crazy when see things like that. Just think how tens of top notch engineers agreed on it so you can relax your tits and think why they did it that way;
"Apple has said that the Magic Mouse 2 (along with the Magic Trackpad 2 and the Magic Keyboard) are fast-charging devices; the mouse can get nine hours' worth of battery life in about two minutes
A full charge takes about two hours and lasts two months. Two minutes of juice is enough for a full day as well. "
