then you would't demand ransom, you would use a freeware tool and some hiden terms to agree.

620hun81907yIt could work, but Piped Piper's compression is physically impossible. It was made up by a university professor for the show.

Korvax55517y@620hun i am not telling about the compression but the way the app works by connecting all those devices and making a huge data storage network

620hun81907y@DavidKevork it is possible. I think the difficulty would be guaranteeing redundancy for each file. It's how torrents work. If all seeders disappear the torrent goes dead.

620hun81907y@b3b3 It could work how torrents work. Each seeder provides some parts of each file, so if a file is shared between 1000 users, you would barely notice it. I don't know, I'm not a network engineer, but I can imagine a decentralised p2p Internet.

I could imagine a weaponized siacoin virus making money off of each unused GB on every infected device.

Just a thought
If WanaCry hackers instead of spreading ransomware they spreaded Silicon Valley Space Saver like app and the virus inside the app continued spreading itself to around 1 Million pcs, where the app would use around 5GB of storage on each pc giving the hackerd around 5 PB of storage.
Would that be possible like Silicon Valley to create a decenteralized data storage system on pcs all around the world and the app would keep spreading itself and by time expand the storage
