!ran Why cant companies work with employees over skype and other software instead of everybody having to physically go to a workplace?

Wouldn't it be more convinient to just connect over such softwares, and share code over github and stuff?

Or what is the reason that companies want to have their employees in a building?

No workplace = less money spent?

I'm not in a job yet and have no experience out of highschool working else where.
I'm just curious on what your opinions are.

sure that's possible, but I prefer when everybody is in the office. At least a few days per week. The reason: I want to talk with my collegues in person and discuss problems while looking in there eyes. Skype and others always have a delay in the communication and misunderstandings happen more often.

@plusgut Do you think it would solve the problem, creating a software that is much more responsive and gives more of an office feeling environment which can constantly run (power usage only on servers side) and also acts like an office itself by making it able to share certain stuff directly over the software. And maybe HTC Vive support and a virtual environment for managers who still wanna be an asshole walking around and screaming at people?

How is a PM going to assfuck you if you are not physically there?

@Xpenz hm, I highly doubt that it would fix the issues. Talking in person is just so much more effective to solve problems. Just alone the breaks when I go have lunch with my peers is so productive. In my opinion you can't have that effectiveness with just talking digitally.

I prefer to work from an office but i would be very happy if everyone who isn't on my team worked from home.

It is possible and mine does it most of the time. The only reason we go in the office is because our VP is ancient and insists we work in office x days per week. Also, we have a guy on the team which doesn't do shit most days so they want to make sure he actually works.
