If you have clumsy people around you, your belongings are never safe.

I left the laptop on the table for just a few hours, and this is what I returned to. Someone carelessly moved the laptop to the right without paying attention to the USB stick, so it bent from the table to the right with a higher position.

Indeed, lack of protrusion is the main reason SD cards are better than USB sticks, and why laptops should have full-sized SD card slots, and why external SD card readers are no valid replacement for built-in SD card slots. Relying on an external SD card reader outright defeats the primary benefit of SD cards, lack of protrusion.

One can be careful with ones belongings every day and have them last a long time, but then someone else comes and ruins it for you. Years of effort with being careful have been wasted. Clumsy people will certainly find new creative ways to break your stuff.

    Did it break?

3/4 of that plastic shell might be empty anyway. It might protrude much less if it wasn't designed to be a bulky stick.

IMO something that long should already hang from a cable. It's just designed to break.

Let's not delude ourselves, @electrineer. As well as this USB stick, clumsy people are ought to *break* something. Better keep your belongings away.

@netikras No, still works thanfully. But a few more centimetres to the right would be all needed to break it.

@electrineer It actually has an OTG ending too, and a switch in the middle to move out or retract the connectors for protection during transportation. No more covers that can get lost are needed.

Ever seen external M.2 USB drives?

    Even longer and still cableless.

@exerceo That's the reason why my main criterion for an M2 enclosure was a cable connection.

Normal users asking for normal ports in their laptops, meanwhile engineers at Apple, How about we remove the usb port from the macbook, no usb ports, no breaking pendrives, no issues !!! 😅😅😅😅

@coldfire Why buy a laptop at all then? Can't break something I don't have. 😅
