b3b340657yIm paying for 120Mb/s and most of the time I can get 130Mb/s. But there would be a completely unthrottled connection available ofc
120 is the fastest available btw :/ -
My parents pay for like 20 Mbps and we get 130 Mbps, same for many neighbours here lol
-
@Letmecode it's illegal where I live, but it's almost impossible to prove that ISPs do throttle your connection.
It's so obvious when they throttle my connection... I will max out at 1mbps. Even being the only device connected (via Ethernet), I'll try resetting my router, etc. with no luck. The only thing that brings my connection to 150 mbps is calling my ISP and complaining about my slow connection, which will then cause my connection to ⭐️magically⭐️ increase to 150 Mbps (what I pay for). It's a fairly common reoccurring pattern for me which only gets resolved by calling my ISP, unfortunately. -
@Letmecode Canada, my ISP is Bell Canada (corporate giant which can no doubt easily get away with this kind of stuff)

@VirtualProtect Create a bot that will call the hotline as soon as you launch it, and output Text-to-speech or your own recorded voice as soon as you're connected, with all information needed.
-
@filthyranter hmm although that is a great project idea... I'd get way more satisfaction if I created a robot assassin that's sole purpose was to destroy all the corporate assholes who decided to throttle my connection.
-
@VirtualProtect I tried to give you a legal approach but hey you can do that too lol
-
@Letmecode hey don't get me wrong! Canada is amazing! There are alternatives to Bell! It's a blessing that monopolies are illegal. Alternatives such as Rogers and Cogeco are supposedly better (in the sense that they are not notorious for throttling)!
