fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK

second day I can't configure the stupid pass for mysql root...

I got in, executing maybe 3 diff queries and all seems good, but when I try to use it, nope, is not that

I had to be done already w/ the assignment and here I am still configuring...

    ..."what took u so long?"
    - u know mysql... well apparently I forget how to install and configure that... what was it used for again?...

... I know what it is, the stupid WinBoze spoiled me for just 1 yr ;)

Double check if you have the necessary ports open / published and the mysql.user table entry is correct ( host_name especially ).

@IntrusionCM yeah, on top of that I'm using phpnyadmin, b/c the freshly installed mysqlworkbench isn't starting...

first was the php curl, now this... I really would have finished the task by now if it wasn't...

@We3D my memories of MySQL workbench are writing ebuilds for Gentoo ....

The build system looked like a whack job of an intern....

... And using MySQL Workbench gave me the same impression. XD

Have you tried like... Not using one?
Or accessing from system root user and then create an actual user with a password you know?

I sorted it out =]. I have to use it, it's part of the task ;)

    Did you commit all transactions?
  • 1
@MammaNeedHummus notting to commit, it's a recruiting assignment and they want my solution via email ;)

@We3D No, what @MammaNeedHummus meant was DBMS transactions, they need to be commited after running to actually persist the changes (unless set to auto-commit)

@possum ooh, wasn't aware of that...in the end one of the queries did stick the pass in place after the restart ( for unknown 4 me reason the mysql server didn't want to finish initialization after that operation )... and did not first n tries...
