What do you guys feel about a web developer completely ignoring Photoshop as a viable resource to aid in developing/designing a website?

A developer, sure, no need for Photoshop at all, a web designer, I'd imagine it's a by case example, how many sites have more than a few images now anyway.

Depends on his tool of choice. If it's Paint, then RUN! RUN! RUN!

I am not sure how to feel. How do you feel? I am a web developer and have never used photoshop.

Not sure what I am missing? How much does it cost and how exactly would it help with software development?

At my work we mostly use free software. To purchase anything we have to write business cases and get them signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, queried, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters.

as a designer i can't live without Sketch App https://www.sketchapp.com/ and to make the dev satisfied www.zeplin.io to handoff the assets, measurements and css syleguide.

so yes ditch it but don't come whining when the boss tells you to brighen up and crop that customer picture "real quick"

what looks interesting is www.figma.com multiple people can work at the same screendesign at once online. And after designing you can import it to Framer.js to make mockup prototypes in js.

O feel the same way like @Letmecode. I use photoshop only for extreme photo manipulation as a hobby

    Photoshop for photo editing.

Sketch for vector graphics, which is how the modern web should be designed anyway. Or even just sketched.

    So yes, ditch photoshop.
