Boss: I want you to create a document management application

Me: because my partner and I have never done one before and we are just a beginners

Nothing wrong in wanting to create (yet) another document management app.

@sterex I know, the problem is that we are relatively young as programmers, and never done something similar to that, i know it is not impossible but I think it will take a lot of time and resources than just going for an all ready-made option, anyway, if you have any advice for this app that help me out, that would be great :)

find something open source, tweak it, slap on some new graphics, call it a day (or a few if you really want to go in it. As long as you arent selling the program you are good.

Just build it around PHP Laravel/slim. Make a Document model, add some user privs (public and private and maybe teams), an upload page and a listings page/view page. Use bootstrap with a theme.

Done. 1 day of work each but charge for a week each.... 6K all in. (£5850 as clients baulk? at round figures).

Always say yes... and figure it out afterwards... you can do more than you think...
