My thoughts:
My story is basically the same, but I stayed and been doing it for the last 16 years.
This allowed me to go through the crisis when everyone was getting out of work.
Yes sys admin is hard, boring most of the time, but it also can be challenging and interesting at times. -
Yes there are plenty of jobs out there but you may struggle due to lack of experience. Was the wage they were offering fair for you role?

rfc716828007yIf you don't have a job right now and you have to find one that matches your interests yet, I'd accepted the offer while you're still looking for something else.
From my point of view, being bored for some time is ... fine, but having financial safety is also worth something. -
@Jonnyforgotten we never got to talk about the money or any other part of the contract. It was just an offer to come back in September and negotiate the conditions, but from what I've seen, I'm pretty sure they pay well
-
@nin0x03 well, financial safety is not critically important. It's not that I don't like money, but I still live with my parents, so theoretically I could live without earning a cent.
I, of course, value it, but it's not like I'm going to starve if I don't have a monthly income -
There is nothing wrong with going back and asking if the offer is still open and getting more details. Have a look for other jobs in the meantime and keep your options open

If you don't like it go for something you like. Keep in mind technological shift and don't choose devOps because of Function as service providers.

Guys, I need some advice.
A couple of weeks ago I finished my internship as a sys admin in this medium sized consulting company. When my "contract" was about to expire they offered me a real job doing the same thing I've been doing for the past few months, but I turned it down.
The reason why I did it was that I wasn't really happy with the job. I mean, the people were... fine, the management team was... fine, the actual work I needed to do was... fine. I think you get the idea. The problem was that I never really enjoyed it all that much, and even though I didn't hate it, I wasn't really happy with it, so I turned the offer down.
After giving it more thought and listening to what some of my friends and family members had to say, I started thinking that maybe it was a bad idea to do so. Many people have said to me that I'm making a mistake, that I shouldn't leave a job before I have a new one, and that I should take the offer, work there for a little while and then look for something else.
I always answer by saying that the job market in this field is much more simple, and that it's much easier to find a new job than in any other, but yet again, I'm not sure if I'm making a big mistake with this decision.
Thoughts?
PS: I'm 21, this would be my first job ever
