Getting my first dev position. 3 months of boot camp being told I'd find a job locally in no time, only to find out the true cost; 8 months (after program completion), 100+ applications, 5 interviews, two call backs, and a lot of emotional nights questioning my decision to switch careers.

Feels good to have the first year of work under my belt. Unfortunately I'm back in the hunt.

Onwards and upwards!

What boot camp did you attend? I'll be finishing my in three weeks so I'll be going through the same thing soon 😂 at least you have some practical experience behind you this time... should be a lot easier to find something else, depending on your location ofc.

I feel you, man. Even though I'm 6 months after mine, still without a coding job... here's to hoping!

Ah the ol' Bootcamp Scamaroo

@FoolsGambit I went to The Iron Yard but they just announced they're finishing their current cohorts and shutting down. Best advice I can give to you is start networking immediately if you haven't already. Apply to every job you remotely think you qualify for and even for those you don't think you do. Most importantly though is keep coding and learning.

@crooks5001 Did they provide you with any support or introductions to companies during or after your course? Seems like the level of support you get varies drastically between bootcamps unfortunately.

it feels really odd that so many people are unhappy with their experiences with bootcamps while everybody on mine is over the moon about how things have gone so far. This is probably the first time I've ever felt that I'll have some of the power walking into an interview.

Are you still in contact with the rest of your cohort? How did they fare? I'll definitely be taking your advice over the next few weeks.
