Sometimes when I need to search for something and someone's looking at what I'm doing, I randomly choose between Bing, Yahoo or Duck Duck Go instead of my default Google. Just too piss them off and make them look away!
-
Googling is nowadays a synonymous for searching the internet. This word even made its way into some dictionaries.
-
@Makenshi True but I choose not to use it as general word because I'm highly against it.
Same with 'apping' in the Netherlands. People use it as a general word for messaging but I just interpret it as whatsapping because I'm highly against it.
I mean when I tell someone I'll message them on Signal, i say I'll signal them 😄 -
PacRat39907y"googling" is kinda like the word "dude" - it refers to a generally wide variety of people and objects, and those who don't know that google isn't the only search engine are prone to call it that; Google kind of kicked off as a search engine and quickly surpassed yahoo and other search engines, which is why no matter what you search with, a large portion of people would see it and call it "google".
besides, how much fun is it to say "Duck Duck Go-ing"? -
@ParkCity I would love using the term "ducking" or just "duck" instead.
Person 1: What's the max value for a int32?
Person 2: Let me "duck" that for you!
I think that sounds kind of natural... Hehe... -
@xenira yahoo search is literally bing. It even says "powered by bing". It couldn't possibly be the source for anything.
Teacher: answer this question without Googling
Me : *gives answer after using DDG*
When will people realize that Google isn't the only way to browse the internet
