Unpopular opinion:
Ubuntu is a dumb piece of shit with so many bugs lying around, especially when you try to get an alternative to Unity or Gnome.
Windows does have bugs too, but at least I don't run into six new bugs everyday which are so bad I can't even work.

Is not like your wrong, I had sometimes bugs here and there but nothing just OS breaking ... also since they introduced Unity, Im used for a while Kubuntu and didnt had problems there, now that doesnt mean you cant just use another distro, it just happen that the Ubuntu family after the CentOS/Red Hat seems to be the ones with the most support for the Linux distro with many companies that cater to it

I have (unsuccessfully) been trying to install the GTX 1060 drivers for some time now. The more I try, the more I hate it.

Try to get alternative to Windows desktop environment.

I heard it's good as a server, I'm tring to set up GitLab on it lately.
