I already got tired of “AI”. The hype train has been so ridiculous. It’s been months since at least 50% of the orange website is not about AI. Every other tool/company that I use is adding new gimmicky “AI” features.

It’s probably just me but I’m exhausted of AI…

I know a dev who is pretty satisfied with GitHub Copilot for C# in Visual Studio.

I am waiting for the already infamous AI feature of JetBrains to get actually released for their IDEs before i try IDE-integrated AI. But using the gratis ChatGPT for code questions was a pretty mixed bag. It is almost always more or less wrong, but its answers contain example code and explaations that lead to new ideas for search terms and concepts to try. So it does help - but only for the hardest problems as getting correct code for problems i already know how to do is just too much work.

The Copilot dude is also somewhat satisfied with using ChatGPT for mutating existing code (basically using the AI as an extremely knowledgeable code monkey).

The hype is real - but if you know your shit, there definitely are dev uses for AI already. And AI is still an almost completely unresearched field - so there will be further advances eventually...
