I'm fucking tired of having to explain to boomers why scrolling on the web isn't a problem anymore and why you shouldn't just shove every pixel of content above the fold. And people seem to really hate whitespace on web pages.

I am NOT going to fill up every fucking pixel on your screen with stuff just because you are too lazy to put your finger on your mouse wheel. Don't know why people just get a fucking WordPress site because they clearly don't listen to expertise from a professional with 10 years' web dev experience. I learned this shit so you don't have to, boomer!

fuck it, I'm gonna send them NNGroup research on this.

And the inclusion of those keep scrolling indicators on websites are pretty silly as well. We know how to scroll! We are more surprised when we can't scroll!

Fastest way to explain to them is to tell them that most browsing happens on mobiles. So you have to optimise for that

Also why the fuck do people insist on making body text 16px on desktop? What, are you afraid you're gonna run out of pages? Do you want to hide the details of your typeface? Fuck this shit.

@MadameMel Yeah exactly. I have plenty of these types of requests from the Marketing Director who has no clue about any of this stuff. I have spent many hours reading up on UX research and try to stay on top of trends, but they don't seem to understand how behaviour on the web has evolved since the invention of mobile phones. He doesn't seem interested in understanding the users of their online platforms.

Scrolling is a absolutely a problem for me.

I use an iphone SE. the damn cookie prompts take up half the page

I fully acknowledge i'm in a very small cohort. But eff it. It's not that i'm weird. A phone is supposed to fit in your hand and your pants pocket!
