Today I wrote a website in Notepad++ purely for a surge of nostalgia

I used npp for a very long time - and it's an app you can choose anything in - it has syntax highlighting, neat search&replace functions, it predicts what you want to write - has multiple (or custom) dark themes. You can programm it to compile your code etc.

Ofc, Atom or webstorms are optimised for Web development and other IDLEs are for other languages - but npp is a really basic and good app, too.

Shit now I remembered my first real project when I was ~16. A community with registration, profile site, some shitty stock trading function with updating prices, forum etc, all in fucking notepad. No, not the one with the ++ suffix.
12 000 lines of code. Boy was I happy when I found out about coding text editors.
