I think the compatibility issues between 2.7 and 3 have largely been resolved because most people I know that are actively using Python are using Python 3.

theuser48027y2.7 I believe is more or less becoming legacy. Sticking to 2.7 was the advice a couple of years ago I remember.

I would never recommend anyone nowadays Python 2.7. It is the best to go to Python 3

Python55587yI agree that you should use 3.x (3.5 preferably) if possible. Depends on which framework you're using as well of course.
If a library you need isn't ported to 3.x from 2.7 yet, consider to contribute with it yourself :)
