I would hate to be an architect or any title of any sorts that has to make architecty solutions right now. I’m a mere FED by choice to be less stressed all the time lol, so I don’t know anything about this subject. But in my opinion, some would say the lack of quality devs but I think it’s a massive miseducation issue. Especially now that every application is developed from people of various countries and the lack of quality education of dev practices in the US, there seems to be a substantial problem of confusion of standards.
All in all, I blame sales and management making wild calls that we can do something in X amount of days. That usually leads to products being absolutely shoddy with no room for improvements in the niches of development (performance, security, etc…). In ~my~ sphere, the reason why a11y has taken off so much is because of the law. It seems like right now legislation is the only means that upholds quality of applications in some ways. -

Let it go first that I actually admire you, because you seem to be able to put up with the bullshit I was never able to.
And yes, the IT world is going on a downwards spiral, but I sincerely see you the same way I was a couple years ago, fucking burnt out to a crisp (and with increasing urges for violence).
Not gonna try to tell you what to do, but it worries me a bit. -
@chonky-quiche definitely wanted to clarify also that I don’t mean developers are any differently skilled than US devs, I guess I mean to say that contracting roles often incentivizes quick and speedy delivery and sacrifices in quality. Also, it’s rare to find contractors that are invested in any way in the company’s success as well, and I don’t blame them.
I really wanna get a keg of rum and start sailing across the globe...

The last years were... very demanding regarding security and upgrades.
It hasn't gotten better.
Microsoft leaked it's security key thx to internal debugging and the tool to secure the debugging process so secure data gets filtered was buggy...
I'd guess I already have carpal tunnel after Redmond.

Apple... oh boy. I could write a Silmarillion about it and would still need an additional trilogy.
Amazon realizing that a Microservice architecture needs planning, cause yeah... just potting services in a data center doesn't end well.
It goes on and on and on....
Don't even get me started on the plethora of firmware / microcode updates cause there was either yet another CPU bug or another device pooped their pants cause the firmware is a mess and needed some dubious update without any background at all...
Serious question: Am I becoming a pepperidge farm uncle threatening to shoot everyone cause I'm getting old and cranky ....
Or is really everything in IT going down the drain the last few years?
It feels like every week is just another "we fucked it up" event.
