It's common to sign a contract where the student promises to stay x time, or pay back the study.
-
vadimg12617y@bittersweet it depends on the country's legislation. Some countries don't allow companies to impose such contracts.
-
@vadimg Certainly.
Currently I'm just pouring money into my developers without any anti-competitive clauses, and we pay interns above minimum wage as well. People thought I was crazy.
My philosophy is that yes, we *might* lose some people we invested in to the competition. But on average, by making them feel valued, most are staying out of loyalty and because they *like* working for us, instead of staying for legal reasons.
A few interns actually went to the competition after their study, and then returned within a few months, because "the grass wasn't greener on the other side".
The best way to prevent high turnover rate is treating your employees well. -
vadimg12617y@bittersweet I really like your thinking and I can only say that your employers are lucky to work in such a company.
CEO: "What if we invest in our devs (i.e. trainings, certifications) and they leave?"
CTO: "What if we don't and they stay?"
