Joking aside, I'd actually want to see that happen.
Certain npcs reacting to weird aspect ratio, freaking out when you change their texture with mods or that there's no grass if you set details to low, and such

Which game are you talking about? I remember EXperience112 doing something similar, when after a long break between my playing sessions one character would say she was afraid that I'd never return. That was weirdly creepy and also awesome.

Or when they do beg you to shut down the game. Save the Date, for example
