After it was revealed that the Equifax hack was even bigger yet again, the US government said something that really made me say/think something in the trend of "WHAT the actual FUCK?!"

"This data is in the hands of cyber criminals anyways".

You run the biggest mass surveillance program in the world, sucking up more than a million terabytes every hour, then at least could you PRETEND to care/take interest when the personal data of about all your citizens appears on the Internet?!

Fucking hell.

    Sadly, the interests of intelligence are not aligned with the interest of the populace

    You know it's gonna be a good day when you open devRant and the first rant you see is from linuxxx. :)

    On a serious note though:
    This just shows how little they give a fuck about who has the data as long as they are one of the ones who have it. It just shows that caring about privacy / security is something necessary today that you REALLY should care about and not be called weird for when you say: 'i don't use Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram ...'

    @linuxxx I would have written more but school starts now and I mustn't use my phone there

    @404response I'd just be too lazy to type long stuff on the phone 😛

    @dronescanfly fucking exactly!
    "Nothing to hide" is ridiculous
    Everybody got stuff they don't want everybody to know
    Be it your damn passwords, sexual interests, private conversations or the body you got in the trunk😉

    I personally feel that the masses will react when their privacy gets free. And when I say privacy I mean whatever social media accounts people might use... People really don't care that much, at least that's what I notice.

    We are to Equifax as we are to Facebook. We are not and never have been the customers. We're the product. Keeping that in mind, why would the goal of anyone important be to protect us?

    @ElToastGrande nothing to hide is a terrible argument just because if they have all the data on you, even if the have nothing of substance, it’s very easy to add incriminating data to that list.

    Are you sure!? Ibsee very big interests in leaking user personal dat. I mean what kind of idiot entrusts the internet for things they dont people to see?

    @linuxxx I have an idea for a storage system inspired by the nsa. Data is encrypted but only unlockable by arranging a puzzle of a picture of a prolapsed anus. The entire system is stored inside other pictures of prolapsed anuses using stegonography. They'll get your data for sure but they won't enjoy it at least.

    I guess we could call it Pink Sock FS.
