I still don't understand the standing desk fad. I like my desk because i can sit at it. In my comfy chair no less.

It does take a little getting used to, but it's better than sitting all day. The problem is I sit at school and half-crouch-half-sit at home in a very uncomfortable position, which can't be good for health and posture.
Sitting too much in general can make you fat, misalign your spine, give you varicose veins as well as all kinds of other problems. Standing too much can hurt your legs and make you sore, but that can be avoided if you stand straight, change postures, stretch, and occasionally move your leg muscles for blood circulation. -

@Shully I sit a lot too so I might try it out some day. I have some benches I can put my laptop on.

Had a standing desk for 2+ years. Solved my neck and shoulder stiffness after a few months of using.

w4tsn33837yI use a stability ball occasionally. Helps strengthen the muscles and keeps me also concentrated.
Such a table is next on my list.

@justsomeguy I work 12 hour days on my feet walking around. I'll take my sitting desk.

@virus200 It's for office workers who sit 7-10 hours a day. You obviously don't fit within that demographic.

@Ashkin good point. @Shully invest in (something like) an ergotron mat - it really does help.

@justwellbrock that's exactly what I got! Great choice as you have the option to sit too (which you'll probably want to do during the first few weeks occasionally).

kubre17077ySitting more than 6 hours in day is not good for your body. Working in standing position is really great solution
