I have a 2014 macbook pro, and it made my life so much better, and I'm not being sarcastic. before that I was working on a dell inspiron (it was quite old too). I just like that it works, and I don't have to download drivers and stuff... also I don't have to fix it every 2 month, because the graphics card just stopped working for some reason. So yeah I'm still happy I made that purchase.

If you have never tried MacOS, and you have the possibility, I encourage you to try it seriously at least once.
Just to know what "the other side" is like.

I made the jump from Windows to macOS many years ago and I really enjoy it. It works without any hassle. Nowadays I’m considering getting a Linux machine for work, because I want to learn more Linux stuff. Still wouldn’t give up my MacBook Pro at home though. So yeah I’d recommend it.

A lot of students on my campus have MacBooks, especially those who are a little better off, but they don't do a ton of advanced or resource-intensive work. Most just use it for music, Microsoft Office, and sync with their iPhone, and sometimes design. Exactly the group Apple tends to market towards. That being said, I'm yet to see a student with a NEW MacBook. They are all pre-2015 MacBooks, and I don't blame them. It's so much money for such little change.

    It depends your use case.

    But probably not.

I have a shiny DongleBook myself, mostly because I was curious about the touch bar stuff and I thought it would be a challenge to get working properly on Linux :p
