About skyRant. I really like what you're doing for establishing it as a third party app with the verify login thing. Technically there is no way for me to verify if the app I'm using is using that source code unless I built it myself, but still nice.

I do feel a bit odd about having additional data such as reactions on the skyRant platform. It's cool and all, but it degrades the experience for anyone not using skyRant. If I like someone's post with a ❤️ there is no guarantee that user will see it. Idk just some random thoughts, but very cool app! :)

thats true. It was mainly a side feature :). The main use of the server is to synchronise blocked words, users and following with the wear os client and to maintain a backup ;). ty!

@joewilliams007 What about having a list of positive, neutral and negative reactions, and auto-voting based on that?

@c3r38r170 or sending the reaction as part of the comment, as another measure of backwards compatibility ;0

Wait, I've missed the part where there was another server in the middle... and verification? Something made me think it was a pure frontend, so I'm not really sure how to feel about this. I mean, devRant is already a single point of failure, and a second one is ever so desired...

I would love if the app focused on interoperability and backwards compatibility with devRant, but only as one of the modules. That's in case devRant falls down completely, other subcommunities will work as usual within an app.

Extending on my previous concern, actually, I knew there was skyRant API. Thought it was some internal client API. I'm still unsure how to feel about self-hosted skyRant or yet another central server. xDDD

That's one reason why I don't host subcommunities (dRCC/dRBB) on my own servers: I can't monitor shit and I'm not sure, even if I could, whether I can afford people depending on me to cover the costs. Still, if you're going with hosting a centralized third-party middle server avenue - godspeed!

@vintprox thats why the app is designed in such a way that if the sykAPI fails, you wont even notice 😉 (other than not being able to use it's features).

for example the 'react' to a post button wont even show up if the server is down

Its not required to verify aswell. And the user can delete everything stored with his user id completly by clicking one button. Its running on my raspberry which i have on anyways, and i don't expect many people to use it in the first place, so i dont really have any maintainance cost.
