@linuxxx No, you misunderstand what's happening.

They have introduced a new protocol that will enable encrypted DNS requests for the first time ever.

That might come to Android first, but still eventually be integrated in all OSes (hopefully).
It will definitely not require Google services - the article is about a commit to the AOSP.
