I was called in to a meeting this afternoon, and for some strange reason, my boss had all our salaries written on a board, and I guess she had forgot to erase them before I got in. I've been thinking about asking for a raise for a few months now, but after seeing that list, I'm wondering if I should ask for more than I had previously contemplated. Would that be considered unethical?

I don't think so, go ask for more if you feel like it

When it comes to salary, always ask for a little bit more than what you'd be happy with.

Best case, you get it anyway.

Common case is you'll get negotiated down towards your actually happy value.

Worst case, they deny you the raise.

Sounds good. Thanks for the insight. I've never done this, but I feel like I deserve some more dough 😅

@Nifled you always deserve more when you are satisfying them with your work then you should have satisfactory income as well

If they can't afford it, they'll simply refuse.

There's no harm in simply asking - if they fire you, they weren't worth your time and effort in the first place.
