When did avocados become so popular?

Absolutely not true. While avocado has less insaturated fats than say, red meat, it still has a considerable amount of fat.

Believe me, those avocado and salmon toasts you have for breakfast aren't exactly helping you lose weight...

What @Hazarth said. It's part of the whole super foods/protein fad. Bird seed has also become hugely popular where it was unknown before.

@CoreFusionX Yeah, I'm not a huge believer in avocados either, wouldn't eat them daily, though I enjoy them occasionally. I'm just pointing out that they became so popular because of this marketing.

There is also another issue.

Avocado crops require *massive* amounts of water, which is obviously a non-issue in tropical climates where they naturally grow but a very big problem in countries like Spain which suffer from pretty much permanent droughts.

In Sweden avocados were relatively u known before the 70s but quickly became common.

I grew up eating avocado. The whole craze about "healthy fats" made them super popular in the U.S

Avocados need to go back to being a side item/expensive add on imo... at least for usa. They started being in so many things that its not even listed on menus often... just used. I dont hate them... just pref occassional light usage instead of this new age game with hipsters, yuppies and the 'woke' trying to shove as much avocado into life as possible.

I feel the same about pico... its become trendy... but is often the equivalent of that little green leafy shit that used to come on plates for the purpose of not eating it

@AleCx04 beat it last night, but got the bad ending. Won’t spoil but you can influence the games outcome somewhat. Im going back for the good ending.

@AleCx04 I lent Elden ring to a friend. Doesn’t seem to be playing it much, lol. I might take it back from him if he can’t stomach constant dying 😝. It’s pretty accessible with summons, spells and buffs to get an edge, you don’t have to go hercules your way through. I played it on his superior sound system and damn hearing the heavy armor clank on the horse the knight boss rides on was sick, especially when the horse staggers lol

Doesn't that just mean there's more hummus for you if everyone else is eating avo instead?
