I found a way to become rich with low effort!

I'll become a python developer.

I hope some fucker finds out that C is durable because it doesn't have to be rewritten all the time and we all go C. The bad apples will fall down soon enough with learning a programming language that actually requires some attention span.

@aviophille I don't speak croissant. I try to speak English

@retoor The Romans, Caesar in particular, didn't have croissants.

@aviophille I'm killing you by the scripting language developer joke? You don't want to know my opinion about react 😁 A normal person is in step three of the basics tutorial saying wow wow wow, we're not doing that. Bye. But then some people achieve to become a senior dev in it 😂 Sorry, there's no such thing as feelings when it comes to code bb ♥️

experienced Python devs in this thread looking at this post be like......

@SidTheITGuy I'm a senior python dev. I create pdf's with it where you can only dream about. So slick

@aviophille of course it changed ten times between when I checked it and now. That's one of the points. It's not durable. The C k&r book stood constant

Imagine being Belgian while the Netherlands exist. Imagine being a react dev while Vue exist.

Well, at least you have waffles I guess
  • 2
@aviophille then don't, dude. Nobody's grabbing your neck and making you do things you don't want to do.

@aviophille if you know js, you don't have to use v-bind at all
  • 2
@aviophille that's not true, everytime I rape someone they say thank you afterwards and call me an Uber

Weird that you think you can become *rich* being a python dev.
Obsene amounts of money are all going to prompt engineers this cycle. Just as Blockchain engineers (previous cycle) are now living under bridges.

@retoor It's not that React is bad, it does have uses cases for complex SPAs like Facebook.

The problem is that too many FE devs think they're Facebook when they're not and pull in React for no good engineering reason.

That's partly because these boot camps churn out folks who only learn React. They don't know HTML, CSS, vanilla JS, so they start by default with React without any sane judgement, or even thinking about whether an SPA is a good fit at all.

It's also because of resume driven development. They pull in insane amounts of complexity just so that they can put it into their resumes and stay relevant on the job market - leaving a trail of trainwrecks behind them such as the new Reddit or Google Mail.

Heck, most of these contraptions won't even build after a year because half of their 1000 NPM dependencies are abandoned and out of sync with breaking changes.

@JsonBoa in the Netherlands you'll be doing very well

@aviophille did you know the first Indian restaurant was made by a Dutch?
  • 1
@retoor they do have some nice bridges there...
  • 0
@JsonBoa you're talking about the one that was just used by one squirrel once? Because that's no joke, that bridge exist

    @aviophille

Also science proved that 100% of C programmers are sex-offenders??

my stomach hurts from laughing. you know I love you, right?
  • 1
    @retoor

`did you know the first Indian restaurant was made by a Dutch?`

will you stop with this shit already? Also this is fucked up - `everytime I rape someone they say thank you afterwards and call me an Uber`
  • 0
@SidTheITGuy the "r word" is an Indian thing and it's funny because it's true
  • 0
@retoor I have no problem with the r word. I can say rape. But what's fucked up is your sentence not the r word itself.

You're being racist for no reason now.
  • 0
@SidTheITGuy calling an Uber for sex is the right thing to do for a girl after sex. That's the whole joke. But you got stuck early in the sentence.

Edit: I've learned the "r word" literally from you. You've learned me that's a thing. It's not racist intended

    @retoor ya I realise that it's a joke, but it's a fucked up one.

@SidTheITGuy you'll have fun in Amsterdam. Making jokes about cancer is #1. There's nothing a dutchie doesn't joke about. You'll find out
  • 1
@retoor don't make me cry making me think of Amsterdam. I already am not in a good place rn.

@SidTheITGuy you're getting married the 24th. You should be energetic as fuck

@aviophille Just look at the complete pile of bloated and slow shit that Reddit has turned into over time, and I don't mean the content. It's particularly bad on mobile.

Meanwhile, Hackernews is fast and lightweight. It does have issues with accessibility - the stupidly small font and the bad contrast, but that would be easy to fix with a couple of CSS lines.

Can you guess which site is JS infested even with adblocker and which isn't?
  • 0
@aviophille That's why I said "with adblocker" as to excempt the devs from management's decision with ad bloat and trackers. What remains is on their shitty devs alone.

Closing their API has exactly nothing to do with their website, and neither has firing devs because someone at some point must have introduced the ridiculous amount of non-ad related JS crap.

And it's not that Reddit is an exception here - quite the other way around, HN is.
  • 0
@aviophille "With adblockers". Do you know and understand what a client side adblocker such as uBlock Origin even is and how it works?

It has nothing to do with ads. It's the usual moron devs on Reddit, and devs who have at least some idea what they're doing on HN (except e.g. accessibility).

@aviophille It is stupidity to bog down a website in unnecessary swaths of JS. Having something like Discord with a lot of JS is understandable, but a glorified set of forums drowned in JS is just dumb (and not even unusual).

If you think understanding such basic shit is already elite, well... then you're a typical FE dev. :)

@aviophille Well, you have demonstrated over and over in which camp you sit. :)
