    I have right now across 7 virtual desktops 15 chrome windows with ~750 tabs open total, with 24GB RAM not even being used fully - "works on my machine" 😆

    Yeah, I have had way over 100 tabs open normally when I was around 12gb on my older pc, check what is actually eating the ram like nobody business

    What possiblity would you need 100+ tabs open??

    @runfrodorun Why is html5 and css3 spec shite again?

    They should create "Cloud Google Chrome", like cloud gaming, they run Chrome on a huge data center and stream it to your PC. The only way to use it without any problem.

    Or just change browser

    @runfrodorun that was even just roughly averaged, some of those def. have more tabs open (especially by now), it doesnt happen often, but when it does, I have no problems with it, because I just onetab the entire window after being done with it 😅

    This is why you use Firefox, chrome is garbage with memory management and slows down way too much when you become intensive with it. Also the whole thing with no scrolling tabs features... No thanks. Though I'm so tied to the Google ecosystem I've come to integrate myself with FF recently and my life has been alot less frustrating.

    Did someone mention firefox quantum?

    It was trying to load an Apache guacamole ssh session ...

    @sslPoodle @Crapple I had 8GB before and I really have to tell you from experience, that it's nowhere near todays standards nor fun - if you don't want to be running just one program at a time and watch every single background process, so for example dropbox is syncing? forget visual studio then.

    Though to be fair if you are a pure linux ricer that uses lynx and vim, you will have no problems ofcourse.

    @irene, see they are recommending FF Quantum :p

    I sometimes wonder why do you have that much tabs? I always end up bookmarking them and have the bookmark tab open so that I simply open the one I want and then move on. I never have more than 5 tabs at a time. If I need more I think I have to rethink what I'm searching for or else I wouldn't be in that mess

    I have been holding alot not write again here because I dont want to show how wicked high my power levels are but if you dont have more than 10 or so tabs you are not internet-ing enough

    @gitpush I don't t get how people can have so many tabs open, my max is about 5 too...there are cases (eg research) when they arrive to 15 but only for short period... Anyway I use edge that use much less ram and has also a nice feature to collapse all the current tabs and restore them later :)

    @dontbeevil same here never came into a situation where I had to have many tabs open.

    @irene I mean the bookmark window with a folder of check later, and when I think the link will be really useful in the future I move it to its folder for later use

    @gitpush If you are in websites that update in real time each thread you are on for diferent topics it adds up really easy to me then videos and other shit

    @legionfrontier well that's one scenario 🤔

    @irene when get a bigger screen don't forget to get more RAM
  • 0
    @irene for the million tab you'll be opening when your screen gets bigger :p
  • 0
    @irene oh I see what you did there, you are going to use FF Quantum that consumes less RAM, nice thinking

    @runfrodorun Yea but then again we would be using flash for players without html5. Also, html5 added canvas which is great for some uses

    @irene i still use and love rss, i use feedly to aggregate all the news from my favourite websites

    @Bitwise I'm happy I'm not alone in this lol

    @irene good to know. By the way, have you tried Google Chrome, an even better browser :p
  • 1
    @irene sort of yes, I also hate the fact it eats RAM a lot :\

    @irene true story :\

    A page is mining bit coin using your Ram

    @felixkiprono That will be hard on your CPU not gpu and if you are an adblock user most of them at least Ublock blocks those scripts already and also MalwareBytes does so too if you have it installed
