I think it is illegal to modify things in Japan or something. Like jail time. So some of these companies will go after hardware modders on youtube if they don't like you. So I think rooting is illegal? Definitely a "different" place.

oh yes. Dont you know how restrictive and boring Playstations are? Its all about extracting that 60€+ for games that look the same every new release.

Sony, as an Android manufacturer, has historically (been owner of several Xperia phones) on the good end of manufacturer bitchiness when it comes to tinkering with your phone.

Beyond the usual voiding warranty, etc (which they can't enforce anyway), they didn't pull shit like locking the bootloader, or blocking features, or messed with your battery.

(Oh, and they opened with regular Phillips screwdrivers too).

I hope they haven't turned to the bad side recently.
