Worst mistake I've made?

Trying to learn perl.

    @donscotty I was was assigned a lot of work on a poorly written and managed perl code after having admitted I was somewhat fluent in it. So to be honest, it's probably more the fact that the code base was bad rather than perl itself.

    But you do hear people ranting about perl pretty often, so maybe it's partially the language's fault that it makes it easy to write poorly maintainable and confusing code.

    the best of "languages"(if there is such a thing") can be used to write the worst(this I know exists) of code and vice versa...

    I have to write some Perl from time to time. It seems like a great language if you code Perl all day every day. But there are just too many ways to do things for code to be readable for me who only use it at times. Imo.
