Some people, even at my age have never had technology as part of their lives or jobs so it just scares them, they don’t understand it or even want to. So trying to explain what you do is just complete nonesense to them.

I feel you. I had the same experience, but nowdays (i'm 16) my parents try to understand me and try to support me, but they still can't understand what the hell i'm doing on my computer.

zeknoss10677yWhen I was a little kid, I used to spend all my money on computer and gaming magazines, which made me literally starve the whole week until I got back to home to each supper.
My mom was always mad at me because of this, and also because of the magazines taking too much space in the house.
After years passed and I got my first real job (although I was already making money) as a programmer and I bought stuff for the house and new cloths for mom, she literally apologised for being so mad at me. She said it was "good investment" and was proud of me :)
Yeah, it's all I'm gonna talk about this. Bye.

I started programming when I was 12, my parents saw me on websites and games, so their first thought was "he's playing!"
Today, 3 years later, I still use and make websites and software.
And yes, they still think that I'm playing, wasting my time and when I try to explain them what I really do and it is my life, they don't seem to understand...
My father knows nothing about computers, he don't want to learn anything about it, he just know how to use his phone.
Hey my work is awesome!
