Super angry and thought I would let it out here, even though its not related to coding.
So we had an assignment at school "Make a 10 minutes long radio report about montreal".

I teamed up with a "friend" and two gals.

First of all everything was fine.
but then, the "friend", last sunday, told me to translate 22 pages until the monday after and invited himself to my house. Those 22 pages, he should have written in english, but because hes too bad he didnt and wanted me to translate em. Even worse: He fought me with bad arguments and by swearing me in order not to have to do it in english.

So he invited himself and his gf to my home to work on that. I didnt want that, so I told em we could mee up in the school.

But then, he continued to annoy me with making me to translate them as fast as possible, he told me how he didnt believe in the excuse I made for not being able to invite them.

SO I just scrapped the meeting, without telling them, I didnt answer on the phone.

Now, hes super salty and wants me to do everything. LITTERALLY!
I have about 40h of work in front of me because he made many bad desicions.

What do you think?
Is he correct with that? Should I have gone to that meeting?
Have I made an error?

    1) you're not an autist. There are actual autistic people out there and just throwing the word around takes away from their cause.

    2) Your friend seems like a douche. Tho you probably should have attended the meeting so you could talk it out.

    3) your friend seems like a douche. Don't do all the work alone, distribute it evenly so everyone can carry their end and if they wont just let the project crash and burn. Still, whatever happens, do your share, else you'll be indistinguishable from them.

Talk to the proof and tell him you want to leave the team. U do the work, they don't get any credit

@Froot Yeah, Ik im not autistic. But i have some autistic traits like I have tremendous difficulties talking to pple.
I agree tho, I shouldnt have threwn that word around. Too late to edit :/

Ik, I shouldve attended that meeting. However, on that day, I was already demotivated by school/family so I just melted down.

I will definitely do what they wanted from me. I will do those 40h. But I will tell the teacher that the work wasnt evenly distributed.

@billgates Well, its too late now. I have commited. But I will tell the teacher how I was the only one doing stuff.

@linuxer4fun tell him now before you do the work. Or if already done.. ASAP.

Or you make apparent in like a presentation that you the only one they know what the fck you did.

That's actually how I did a lot of my big data-like projects in college.

There is only one person that knows what the fuck they did... And it's very clear to everyone it's not the ppl that just tagged along...

So at the very least you get to send a subtle F U!

@billgates Yeah. I will probably hand in a readme with the credits

@linuxer4fun as they say in the IT world... A lot of the times you just need headcount for the sake of meeting headcount... Yes random

Most of the time the real work is done by at most 20% of the people...

@billgates Mhhh. yeah. But thats not MY biggest problem for now. My biggest problem is, how he acted towards me.
Its just not possible that he gives me so much work on a sunday to do for the next day, its just not possible that he invites himself to my home, its just not possible that he threatens me with MANY things because I dont do like he wants, its just not possible that he tries to educate me, when hes so impolite.

    Notice the anapher? :P

@linuxer4fun I had to do some work to understand 😁

But yes I did... Typing that on your phone most be hard... So many changes for typos and with one screw up that's the end...

How can anyone invite themselves to your house and threaten u? Just call the cops? Or get ur parents to kick them out.

Someone refusing to do their portion correctly and then pressuring you to fix it? He sounds like a useless asshole. 😡

I'd give the professor full disclosure on just how much effort each person put in.

And never trust that "friend" again.

@Root I will. and I will do it harshly, no matter the cost for the other teammates
  • 1
@billgates He said "tomorrow we will go to Maximilian to do this shit" - no asking, no being polite
  • 3
"Friend " equals "regular client", in this case
  • 3
And since that is the case "He needs to be blamed and not you. You did nothing wrong. Just like Hitler (just joking you really did nothing wrong ^^)"
    That's rule no 1.
Stop being rude to yourself. You're not an autist.

@gitpull Those last two sentences sound like it is bad to be an autist.
  • 4
    @romangraef it is not bad.
He just felt bad and called himself an autist by giving it a new idiotic meaning.
  • 2
    @ThatDude Agreed. 😡
