fucking hostgator!

go suck a cock you developers!

everything from their payment system to their support is crap.

a few days ago, i purchased a website from hostgator, with a year of hosting during black friday weekend. i had obtained a black friday coupon code that entitled me to roughly $160 off its usual price. that said, i filled out the registration form and clicked the 'checkout' button.

right after i clicked it, i saw i forgot to put in the coupon code, and pressed the back button on my browser. then i put in the code and proceeded with checkout.

guess what?

those MOTHERFUCKING GREEDY ASS BITCHES charged me TWICE, one with the coupon and one without.

i contacted customer support and told them what happened after waiting about double the time i was supposed to be connected to support.

of course, they asked for my fucking "security" pin over the customer support live chat (totally not ironic).

they sent a confirmation email, and cancelled the payment without the coupon.

then ONE FUCKING DAY LATER, I tried to connect to my website.

MY SITE WAS FUCKING SUSPENDED.

die in a hole.

i contacted customer support once more, and after explaining the story, I had to wait four to eight hours.

i'll see how it turns out tomorrow.

die in a hole hostgator🖕

    Any big name american webhosting plans (godaddy, hostgator, ..) are scams I learned. You get nothing for your money.

    One of the reasons why hostgater sucks. Use namecheap instead :)

    @JoshBent at least I got a dv ssl certificate

    @calmyourtities ssl certs are worth nothing knowing that you can get a letsencrypt for free 😋

    @Michelle my first website, I wanted to use hostinger but then decided not to because it wasn't american based. namecheap doesn't provide hosting, which I needed.

    @JoshBent you can't get a dv ssl for free

    @calmyourtities
    Ah, you wanted hosting as well? It's difficult to find one that doesn't rip you off :/

    @calmyourtities namecheap does provide hosting afaik, but you can get hosting literally for free via something like surge.sh if its static content, if its not, just figure out vps servers, its really the only option not to get ripped off.

    Regarding dv: "While DV certificates verify the consent of a domain owner, they make no attempt to verify who the domain owner really is. The manner in which domain validation is carried out makes this kind of certificate ideal for both phishing and man in the middle attacks."

    Interesting.

    @JoshBent thanks, I'll make a phishing attack

    Most web hosts aren't worth it...

    Go straight for a vps, with preconfigured lamp stack if you must.

    Also services like laravel forge makes it stupid easy to get a box ready with minimal effort

    Digitalocean.com stop wasting your time and money on shared hosting.

    Btw, clicking back or stop does not kill the process running your credit card on someone else's server.

    These are crap. GoDaddy customer support don't even know publish profiles. It wasn't working for me so she told me to upload files directly to server or use FTP.

    Immediately switched to Azure. Peace of mind.
