thebiochemic3019219dit's all this unnecessary middle ware.
For me it's NFS Heat & their new EA Launcher.
Nowadays it really is easier to just pirate shit, despite me owning the stuff. It's crazy -
Lensflare17101219dWe think there is a fundamental misconception about piracy. Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem
- Gabe Newell -
MaddScientist39219d@Lensflare I say both. For example, in a third world country 60-70 usd is crazy high price to pay for a game that may or may not be worth the value.

Demolishun34725219d@thebiochemic I own EA games. I won't install them or play them anymore because of the EA launcher. If Steam isn't enough DRM then get fucked.
-
thebiochemic3019218d@Demolishun 100% agreed.
I genuinely fear the day, when gabe newell is handing down his business, because he retires or something. -
Demolishun34725218d@thebiochemic the gaming industry is going to be upset in the next few years. The push for wokefying established and new IP is going to hurt game companies. Steam is convenient, but I think other companies can replace them. The reason I mention this is because like looking at Amazon Prime video I look at Steam and never find anything good anymore. I have tried like 10 games in the last couple of years and refunded most of them. I don't know if it is me , the content is too complex, or the content is just not good. All subjective of course. But as soon as Steam goes to in game ads, or starts messing up the balancing act with DRM it will be a dark day.

thebiochemic3019218d@Demolishun i guess it kinda depends on what you get out of it. I don't really care about all the new stuff that comes out. I'm more interested in replaying older titles (with one or another odd outlier) and don't really care what steam is recommending me. I usually buy games years after their release anyways, when the hype is gone and the reviews (on news sites, youtube etc.) are less biased.
What i care about is, that the games i have access to (and have installed) are all accessible via steam and steam only.
The capabilities of adding non-steam games to it and using proton on them is actually one of the reasons, why i switched away from Lutris for example.
That being said, i still enjoy games like Elden ring, NFS Heat, or even CS2 from time to time -
SidTheITGuy9595218d@vintprox you know what is hilarious?? that @kanyewest downvoted your comment even though he has no business here. 🤣🤣🤣

SidTheITGuy9595217d@jiraTicket I didn't let it finish, when I saw Ubisoft Connect downloading another 43 GB I hit cancel and removed everything.
My internet connection gives me download speeds of 3-4 MB/sec so I ain't waiting around for it to finish. -
PepeTheFrog1233213dYaaaar ho har me matey,
Navigating the vast sea web are we,
Ever the time to plunder some booty,
A piratey life, ain't it, for you and me.
The entire modern gaming ecosystem is a scam.
I added The Crew: Motorfest trial version to my library for free.
Click on Install and it downloads 43 GB of data.
Now it's time to launch.
Click on launch and Ubisoft Connect takes over and it starts downloading another 43 GB??????
WTF ??
If I can't even get the trial version of a game without nearly wanting to kill myself, how does the company expect me to pay full price for it?
Piracy FTW. Fuck all the companies.
