Yeah. I used it for a couple months. hated it till update. then I liked it. didn't notice too many bugs.

Dunno about the battery life but I really like elementary and so far I havent encountered big bugs, it just works "out of the box". And it's still linux if you don't like something you can change it. The only thing I dislike is that it isn't rolling release like arch

Have you ever checked out Solus? That's a beautiful distro, too, with not so many bugs in spite of being very new

good luck opening android studio in elementary. it fucking freezes.

elementary is designed to be used as is, you can install stuff... but stuff might break ugly. Same as any distro I guess :/
