You can't. That's the entire point. But if it works, it works, whether it's due to placebo or because it's real it doesn't really matter too much

But you should ask yourself this:
How do you know that anything is real?
It’s impossible to know if everything around you is real or hallucinated.
Also, you could be a Boltzmann brain.
