You can't upload images anymore since a few days :) Very new

@retoor 😱 you serious?? That sucks... Maybe I should just leave again haha...

@just8littleBit the advantage of a smaller community is that u know eachother better. So atheist is an atheist, mammaloveshummus loves hummus, SidTheITGuy's name is Sid for example

@retoor and you are a... Dutch woman?

Also dfox and trogus have gone missing.

    @atheist very Dutch

@cafecortado oh my... just saw a post from @Root about dfox a few days ago, was wondering what that was about.

@mostr4am I decided to extrapolate from the profile about rather than the name...

Back in finance, and it’s good?
    Surely you’re joking, Mr. @just8littleBit

@mostr4am I used to modify and make my own star wars figures for fun. I was also on a irc channel that talked about this. We all realized we were Sid from Toy Story.

@Root I know sounds weird. But you wouldn't believe how boring telecom is.

Its a very big company so things are more organized, shared responsibility etc. So they don't take advantage of individuals so much. Wouldn't go back into a smaller company (especially startup) in finance though.

    Good news, congrats!

Curious, I got an economics degree before I self taught software. Is there any actual benefit to having domain knowledge for finance in a programming job (aside from Quant)?
  • 2
@bosslogic depends on the company I'd say.
Domain knowledge comes with time anyway but can give you a head start.

In investment banking I think domain knowledge comes in very handy. There's so much to learn, if the domain knowledge is already there it makes life a lot easier.

But main thing about finance is learning to avoiding rounding errors tbh 😂

@just8littleBit guess these aren't huge javascript shops lol. Thanks for the info.

@just8littleBit Makes sense. I just really hate working in fintech.

@mostr4am I don't know why people are so surprised that Israel is a military society. It was born in war and has enemies on every side, yet still remains a democracy (for now). Under similar circumstances, USA would have become a dictatorship long ago.

@bosslogic I'm sexting with the AI on your site. You don't have https anymore btw. Consider caddy with builtin letsencrypt https

@retoor thanks for the heads up it's fixed now.
  • 2
@bosslogic the USA is the largest terrorist organization in the world. Which I hope we fix in the next 10 years (hopefully less). The USA blindly supports Israel. I am tired of us funding both sides of the wars in the middle east. It makes me sick. While the politicians get kickbacks from all of this. Blood money.

For instance. I heard that when the USA left Afghanistan the opiate trade there dropped by 99%. Previous to this I talked to soldiers that said the military was guarding poppy fields there.

@retoor I ate a whole pot of hummus with a baguette 🥖 yesterday. I was as happy as a pig in shit 🥰

The world might end but my love of hummus will not

@Demolishun my dude, poppy is a third of Afghan GDP. Guard anything and it’s probably a poppy field. The opium trade died because the Taliban ended it on account of Islam.
