So I live in the south. And it’s been pretty cold here the past few nights. And now there’s a gaping hole in my laundry room and water going everywhere and a plumber who seems to still be reading the README.md file. And my kitchen is flooding. And my gf is losing her shit. And I’m drinking coffee sitting at my bar, checking emails. Somebody wake me up.

@PerfectAsshole I know some small shit. When in doubt I'll call my dad or grandfather and they'll walk me through it.

@PerfectAsshole you’re welcome to try and fix it. This isn’t pvc though.

I thought I knew you IRL, in the last few days we have had several people come into work to shower because of similar things.
-4F and -20F wind chill is not fun.

@Nilo-jxn Think you can get a better picture of where the water was coming out? The picture is hard to see

@PerfectAsshole I have it tamed. It was a 3/4 in. Copper line that split. I rent a townhouse and it’s an old conventional build, so I left the water running last night to prevent this. Apparently the house didn’t respect that.

Me and the plumber have the waterfall rerouted towards the ground instead of into the house. He couldn’t cut the water off without my neighbors also losing water and the pipes re-freezing, my property manager wouldn’t allow it.

Anyway, Its not coming out of my checking account so for once I’m glad that I’m renting instead of owning.

@PerfectAsshole oh and the picture was shit because I only filmed it while it was in that state. So I had to screenshot the video.

@Nilo-jxn Ah ok. I'm guessing sodering on a cap wasn't an option then. Your landlord is a dumbass by the way, since the line is already broke cutting the water off shouldn't hurt anything if it freezes cause where it's broke should release the presure if it does freeze. Well unless there's a loopback system then running water isn't going to help cause water hammer could crack a pipe when somebody flushes a toilet
