Sounds like my last job, except there were no credentials or notes of how many servers we had, where they were, or even how to deploy code! Also, production was down because the previous dev intentionally broke it after being fired! 😄

He was a con artist and intentionally made everything insanely complicated to hide his embezzling/theft and lack of technical expertise.

Everything was scattered across vps's, bare metal servers, vm's, all hosted across Heroku, Hetzner, Linode, and AWS. DNS on AWS and GoDaddy. Multiple database copies, CSS shared across sites via Redis... Just. What. The. Fuck.

13 hours later I got everything back up and running, and kicked him out for good. Asshole.

Sounds like my daily job

Why would anyone pay for that if you can get paid to do it as a developer.

This is a new recurring nightmare.
