    The fact that iPhone cases have a cut out for the Apple logo confirms this.

    Where is "Help, I'm trapped in the ecosystem."?

    Anarchism vs Communism
  • 7
    @FinlayDaG33k more like Anarchism vs a totalitarian regime.
    There's nothing communist about Apple

    @FrodoSwaggins
    Apple takes privacy and security seriously? How do you know?
  • 1
    Had to buy a new phone as my beloved Huawei died in its third winter. Wanted a phone where I could actually touch all of the screen from one grip, iPhone SE was the only option below 5". :/
  • 2
    Honestly I’ve tried android (Nexus 6, Google’s flagship at the time) and it was just a bad experience. The reason i like apple is the build quality is second to none. After about 2 years with the nexus 6 the backplate started to bulge out, eventually opening entirely. Simultaneously the phone would just die when I got to about 50%.

    Before all this i had an iphone 4s for about 3 years with zero issues. In fact after my nexus 6 broke, i got my iphone 4s out of my drawer and started using it again perfectly fine while i searched for a new phone. Now im on the iphone 7 and have had no problems.

    For me, androids seem for like gamble.

    @Jop- still 5.2" vs 4". Unless there are smaller versions of the compact that I didn't immediately come across with my google.
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins IM CALLING BS ON THIS ONE! There are MANY more secure Android Devices... Some of them even use 256bit encryption! Apple will just trap you in their Ecosystem full of BS Statements..."Innovation" more like CopyCat Inc. and that Apple chips are better than Qualcomm or Samsung chips is BS too... Apple USES SAMSUNG CHIPS!
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins Well then you are lost
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins Oh, lets talk about the iBoot code that flies around... and that i have a copy of... Still very secure isnt it?
  • 0
    @fredisinbed Sony Xperia compact.
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins oh and what about that telugu symbol which crashes this "perfect"
    OS?
  • 1
    @psone SE is still smaller. 4" vs 4.6 or 5.2
  • 2
    @FrodoSwaggins The closed source part is the main reason why I'll stay with android (for now, locked down though so no Google calling home shit). I believe you and find you very trustworthy but as long as nobody can confirm anything through reviewing the source code, I'm not going to believe that they take privacy serious. Nothing against you, just my personal views :)
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins @Mizz141 So basically you (not frodo) are implying that open source software is insecure?
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins
    The engineers you know at apple are the best in the world? You'd have to know every engineer in the world to make this statement, else anyone could say that about any company. Also, apple AI department is not really that good when you compare it to Google.

    Apple uses better materials? Umm... Like glass and aluminium? My android phone is made of aluminium, galaxy S8 is made of glass. To be honest Id say design is one area where iPhones are lagging behind. iPhones up to 5s looked really good, now they've sort of lost it and Samsung has taken the lead with S8.

    Don't get me wrong, iPhones are really well made. But some of your points were just dead stupid and I had to point them out ☺️
  • 4
    @FrodoSwaggins Also, "yeah but Google sucks too" is not a valid counterargument. The fact that apple has that symbol big (which is not the first of its kind on their devices) is a big stain on their quality control, no matter what anyone else does
  • 0
    @mileslemon Got the nexus 6p the moment it came out, 3 years back? Still going strong. I think you just got a bad model. Tho, nexus 6 was probablly one of the worst nexus phones they've made.
  • 2
    @FrodoSwaggins
    You say you work with broadcom chips and they're horrible. Well, you havent worked with apple chips, have you? So there's no comparison.

    6s chip is was as fast as i3 at the time -> bullshit. Apple A chips are good but not that good. The latest iterations would "work" on desktop but it wouldn't be anything amazing. Also, if apple chips are so good then why did they stop using them for macs and go to intel instead?

    Oh boy, so much bullshit in your posts...
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins Obviously I haven't worked with these chips, I never said I had. I just pointed out what seemed like a biased comparison hen you mentioned working with broadcom chips.

    Also, don't threaten me.
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins exact same, if a macbook and a surface Pro 4 are made out of the same material, why does the Macbook feel much crappier?
  • 4
    Lol I love how this rant has turned into a Frodo Vs the world fight 🤣
  • 2
    @FrodoSwaggins ok, lets talk about price, HOW do you explain that a PHONE costs more than a decent Laptop? and is even worce than that? or Repair costs? how the FUCK do you explain that repair COSTS THE FUCKING SAME as a NEW PHONE?!
  • 3
    @Froot @FrodoSwaggins I just wanted to drop in for a sec as I can't find that threat either and its quite an accusation to say that someone threatens you in my opinion.
  • 0
    Interesting.
  • 1
    @FrodoSwaggins well... how about making phones cheaper, they sell more... much more, if an Iphone 8 would only cost 500 bucks, id go for it... but with 800... no thanks... and A Lot of manufacturers are making their OS different from the Stock Android, but their still selling it for a better price... take Samsung S8 600 bucks, and with a WAY different android than the stock one (almost a new OS) and their sellimg it CHEAP AF! how do you explain that, they even made their OWN FUCKING VOICE ASSISTANT!
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins "Cheaper Materials" Silicon is silicon, Copper is Copper, Aluminium is Aluminium, its about the Processing of the Materials... if you process the Cheapest copper VERY good its will be as good as the most expensive one, and apples core buisness might be Phones but they also Produce PC's... overpriced ones! how do you explain that i can get the exact same Hardware for a Fraction of a price? I mean 5000 bucks for a Xeon and a Vega 56... VEGA 56! and 32GB ECC Memory WHY SHOULD THEY INCLUDE A FUCKING XEON SERVER PROCESSOR IN A MAC! NOT A SERVER A MAC!!
    I could get a ASUS GTX 1080TI Strix, 6TB HDD, 512GB M.2 ssd, 64GB DDR4 4200mhz RAM, Ryzen Threadripper 1950X for that FUCKING PRICE!
  • 0
    WHO TF would need 2TB of RAM? And intel has now their X99 Chipset for their new I9 Processors, engineered for Heavy Workloads on a WORKSTATION making them more attractive, and Xeons might have ECC (Error Correcting Memory) but you dont need that in a normal workstation PC, and if id get a Rendering/3D Modelling PC id get a Threadripper 1950X (It can also hit a max of 2TB of RAM) with a MUCH higher Thread Count than a Xeon SERVER CPU! and Vega 64! but apple could easyli switch their VEGA 56 to an 64 one without loosing any profit...
    but still... if id custom watercool the PC id mentioned before id still crush that 5000 dollar mac... plus id have the freedom to put OSX on it making it a better mac...
  • 0
    yet you didnt awnser why your mac should be better in any way, i could build a Xeon PC id still be cheaper than that mac...
  • 1
    @linuxxx @FrodoSwaggins "I caution you to bla bla bla". That's what I meant.
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins HPs with melting batteries. I see you're still spewing bullshit...
  • 0
    @Mizz141 got big data/machine learning?
  • 0
    @Froot Oh okay, that's not a threat though I'd say :)
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins and Apple needs go slow down their devices because their batteries are actually not any better...
  • 1
    Can partially confirm. I bought the iPhone 7+ ONLY because I thought it was cool that it has two lenses. Have used lense two like three times. I’m quick to pay for a gimmick.

    However, it has caused me a total of zero issues, it’s fast as heck, and it links seamlessly with the rest of my devices, vs my galaxy s6 that wouldn’t connect to anything, constantly yelled at me about storage space and so on. Additionally I hate the way android releases updates.
  • 0
    @Tawzer
    have you ever thought of adding a micro SD to the S6?
    and its samsung who releases the update for their devices...
  • 1
    @Mizz141 yes and I was speaking generally and I misspoke anyways I meant versions of their os like kit kat or whatever
  • 0
    @Tawzer What do you hate about it?
  • 1
    @Froot everything!

    Just kidding, it just irritates me that you can only switch versions if the manufacturer tweaks it for your device. I get that it is because of the thousands of different android devices running thousands of different hardware configs but from a tech support viewpoint it’s frustrating. I’m a wimp in this way.

    That being said, I was an Android user for years, and I still recommend these devices to people all of the time. It seems as long as they get them from the top five manufacturers they get updates on time and for the majority of users they probably wouldn’t even notice if they didn't. 🤷‍♀️

    Ubuntu touch creates freedom
  • 1
    @Tawzer That's why you need to use Nexus/Pixel devices. I have a nexus 6p and I get the new android version within a couple of weeks of its release.

    @Ubuntu touch is dead

    I bought android because my windows phone died after 4 years, and I couldn't buy a new WP. Fucking hate android, can't even make a simple app because the docs are incorrect for me...

    I just started with react native and that's giving me the best results, I just hope I can get notifications without GCM in react native...

    @Pseudonymous unfortunately you don't know any of the smartphone history. Read about it and then come back before talking bullshit. Thanks mate.
  • 0
    @Pseudonymous then you also know that the first smartphone was a windows phone? About 3 years before apple came with the iPhone. Those phones were successful with businessmen.

    Guess who has been number one in the smartphone market? Indeed Microsoft.

    Microsoft has made the first smartphone, the first all in one laptops, and are now working on a new device which will also be the first of its kind.
    You can say what you want but they are great innovators, they just have to go through with something once in a while...
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins well @Pseudonymous said Microsoft never was a leader in the smartphone market which cannot be true if they invented smartphones...
  • 0
    @FrodoSwaggins I have seen tons of them around here.
  • 0
    @Pseudonymous by whom? It may be different in other countries but in the Netherlands they were pretty common.
